A Lightroom virtual copy is a copy of your photos that you make in Lightroom, whether it’s a local copy or a remote copy.
Virtual copies are a feature of the cloud that allows you to have multiple copies of files stored in the cloud. This can be useful if you want to keep a copy of a file on your computer in case you lose the original, or if you want to share the file with other people.
To create a virtual copy in Lightroom CC, open the photo you want to create a virtual copy of and select Edit > Duplicate Photo. You’ll be prompted to name the new photo, and then the new photo will be created with the same settings as the original photo.
The virtual copy is located in the Library module of Lightroom.

There are currently four catalogs that can be synced with Lightroom mobile: your personal catalog, the photo collection of your organization, a shared catalog that you have created with another user or a subscription service catalog.
Duplicate photos are typically found by selecting the photo and pressing “D” (for duplicate) or “CTRL+D” (for duplicate selected). If you have a lot of duplicates, it may be helpful to use the “Duplicate Photos” filter in the Library module.
There are a few ways to duplicate a photo. One way is to use a photo editor, such as Photoshop or GIMP, to duplicate the photo. Another way is to take a snapshot of the photo and then use an app like PhotoBooth to create a copy of the photo.
In Lightroom, virtual copies are unstacked by selecting the virtual copy in the library, clicking on the three lines in the bottom left corner, and then clicking on “Unstack.
